Lowe’s Labor for Your Neighbor Renovation
/Labor Day is right around the corner and what better time to celebrate someone with a little home improvements on behalf of Lowe’s! I am so excited to be a part of Lowe’s “Labor for Your Neighbor” project continuing Lowe's commitment to recognize frontline heroes, where I was given the opportunity to give back to someone who… well, frankly has been giving back!
The local children’s museum, Children’s Museum of the East End (otherwise known as CMEE) had been helping the community during these trying months. They have been using their space as a food pantry for local families in need. I knew I wanted to give back to them as they slowly and cautiously start to re-open even while keeping the food pantry open at the same time.
The museum made a lasting impression on me and my family last winter while we were first becoming aquatinted with the East End. The family fun and adventure along with the crafts and creativity is what I fell in love with first. But as the early part of the year greatly shifted into the world we know now, I will never forget seeing how the community out east came together and how the once family fun museum now became a family resource for food to the ones who needed it most. Seeing volunteers set up the food pantry and seeing how many families relied on them is without a doubt a selfless and heroic act.
So I knew I wanted to help them in any way I could. I wanted to spread that love through a small act of generosity to my hardworking neighbors and help unite the families and the communities this Labor Day.
Check out how cute their new garden entry looks with a little hay, pumpkins and we love the idea of incorporating the local kids, so we made this install.. interactive! The pots and planters can be decorated and brought home or the kids can use them to incorporate into the museum’s garden this fall. Plus, we came up with the kids of the “Thank you” wall.. this wooden piece now has a very special meaning and I know a lot of the local families will love adding their gratitude to it! How perfect did this turn out?
Lowe’s “Labor for Your Neighbor” project is encouraging consumers to spread the love this fall by taking on small acts of kindness for their neighbor’s front porches – whether that’s by dropping by with a fall mum, leaving a colorful wreath on their door or sprucing their step with a seasonal doormat! A little goes a long way.
Whether you love outdoor fall décor or honing your skills with a paint brush, give a deserving neighbor an enjoyable outdoor space with their family this fall. In giving back to others, you may also be inpired to do a little refresh to your own porch too! I know I’ll be setting up something similar this fall for my kids!
